Background

Petit Món with some NDA’s friends
In June 2008, during the construction of the Sano Sansar Children’s home, we decided to allocate some of our time and resources to try and improve the facilities for disabled people within the Ortopedic Hospital of Jorpati (Katmandu).
With a group of young Catalan volunteers, we were able to fix the ceilings, lights, fans and curtains. We also carried out a deep clean and gave the walls some much needed coats of paint. The baths and toilets were in very bad condition, and still needed a lot of working doing to them. Moreover, the facilities had not been adapted for people with disabilities.
Finally, we decided to start a new project – a comprehensive renovation and restoration of the disabled baths in Jorpati. We changed the toilets, drains, pipes, and wall tiles. We also installed a water tank and solar panels. The restoration finished in 2009, and from then on Petit Món continues collaborating to guarantee the well conditions from the maintenance and cleaning from the bathrooms.
The Khagendra New Life from the orthopedic hospital is a space who host disabled people, physically and mentally in a country not adapted for people with those conditions. The center provide rooms, showers and food, nevertheless, their residents are still living with lacks and thanks to diferents NGO’s and foundations we try to improve their lives.

Petit Món Foundation is currently working in three different areas
Maintenance
Due to the good relationship between Petit Món and the association, the foundation bear the cost of the expenses of a worker to clean and maintain the cabins. Petit Món also provides the personal hygiene and cleaning material.
Studies sponsorship
Some of the residents, their children or familiars from NDA need suport to be able to continue with their studies. Through Krishna, one of the residents guy from Khagendra, Petit Món send the grant from the sponsors to the eight students who are currently supported.
Nevetheless, there are a lot of people in the center who have economic difficulties and they need support, whether with the lodgement, with their studies or essential products. For this reason, Krishna has started a campaign to achieve more sponsors via his website: http://www.krishnanepal.com.
In this sense, Petit Món helps Krishna in the search of more sponsors, moreover it is through him that we manage the communication and the expenses between the sponsors and the students.
Others
Due to the necessities of the NDA residents, Petit Món tries to provide welfare and puts forward a solution to their lacks. Like the purchase electric wheelchairs and their maintenance service.
